Yes, I experienced it too, PTrackerLA. In fact, a couple of blocks from my house, a tornado - or at the very least - very strong winds uprooted quite a few trees, took roofs off of several homes, peeled metal roofs off of buildings, and destroyed a couple of barns out in the countryside. I lost electricity early in the morning around 1:00 a.m. Back on at 6:00 this morning. Saw some of the damage on my way to work this morning. Heard that one person was injured and taken to the hospital closer to Lafayette.

I want to get one of the "weather alert" radios they've been talking about at Radio Shack. It sounds like a good thing to have is something happens while you are sleepign.

Well there was either a tornado or a straight line wind event in western Lafayette Parish. According to news sources the winds were 70-80mph in those areas last night.

They said there were VERY high winds in those storms. This morning they told us to be prepared for winds up to 60. Hope you made out okay!!

I fell asleep at the beginning of the storm and the rest of my family never woke up! :D Before I fell asleep I kept opening my eyes to see if the electricity had gone out...I don't like being in total blackness. The flashes of lightning were unreal and the thunder shook the house.
