A very dangerous cold front is plowing through higher terrain of western Maryland and eastern West Virginia. The wind advisory for Washington and Allegany Counties has been upgraded to a high wind warning. Now Garrett County, Allegany, Washington, and Fredrick including Cumberland, Hagerstown, and Fredrick are under a high wind warning.
Very strong damaging winds with gusts of 60-70 mph are expected as the cold front moves through. Areas especially vurnerable to this type of wind will be at elevations above 2000 feet. Here in Baltimore, this front could produce gusts of 35-50 mph along with thunderstorms and heavy rain later this afternoon.
It's a dangerous situation for western Maryland at this time. Will monitor this all morning and all day as well.
