Getting Ready

Looks like today is the day. After seeing everything that has been going on over the last week and having a few chances...looks like today will be a very interesting day. We are currently under a flood watch and are awaiting the arrival of the storms. It is very quiet this morning. I have looked at a couple of the area discussions that surround us...and we are looking to have some dangerous storms around the noontime hour. If the clouds breakup some this morning...these storms are going to develop quiet rapidly. I noticed in the State College (CTP) weather service office discussion, they notice a thunderstorm develop rapidly early this morning and it developed a quick meso suggesting the shear to be sufficient for rotating storms today. We are in the 5% range for tornadoes, 25% in the for damaging wind (right on the blue shaded area), and in the 25% area for large hail. Hopefully, my weather radio will work today....it doesn't work all of the time because of the distance between my location and the 2 surrounding towers, as well as the mountains that are between us and them...but if the weather radio doesnt work that well, I have a program for the computer that beeps and opens a window when warnings and watches go up for the area, so I might just keep the computer on most of the day. I'll let you know how we fear as conditions change. Also, to all the mom's on the board...Happy Mother's Day. Til later.
