SEVERE WX CONCERNS, could see more tornado threat

Good afternoon everyone. Here across the Baltimore metro area, winds are generally from the southeast at 5-15 mph with temperatures between 75-80 degrees. Southwest winds aloft at 100 kts is plowing into this region. This speed shear with southeast winds at less speed and southwest winds aloft at higher speed could get these storms to develop into mostly supercell and rotate. Thus a higher probability of strong tornadoes does exists from DC, Baltimore, up through Philly, Harrisburg, and in Allentown, PA. Best times for severe and tornadic thunderstorms in these areas will be between 6 and 10 PM. Very damaging wind, large hail, and isolated strong tornadoes cannot be discounted today in this area.
In addition cape values are from 1500-2500 j/kg in central PA and 2500-3500 j/kg in MD and east central VA. So all the ingredients are there for violent tornadic thunderstorms for one more day across the northeast and Middle Atlantic states.
Stay tuned.
Jim

Been cloudy here most of the day, the clouds are starting to thin out and break up but we are running out of time for daytime heating and we all ready past the peak time of day between 12 and 2pm for the strongest sun and the cap has not broken yet. If we can get most of these hold backs gone we could have a big outbreak of severe storms down here in central va...

Same thing down here this afternoon in NC...just some wispy widely-scattered showers...oh joy.

We just had a severe thunderstorm pass less than 5 miles north of here. The NWS doppler radar showed a tornado forming but then it broke up. After the storm was past you could look out and see the clouds converging at the center of the storm. That was way cool.

Around 5:00 pm, I saw a bank of clouds approaching. They were more stratus-y than the cumulus-y storm clouds that prevailed here until then. I said "Here comes the cold front!" Now at 6:30 it is just delightful outside. A good 10 degrees cooler and less humid. That's more like it!

:? Nothing happened here either. It's still pretty humid but no storms had developed. Actually, the clouds/haze started to break at around 3:00/4:00 pm. At that time I thought it would really start to develop those storms but nothing happened.
I'm glad we didn't have the tornado watch but I do like thunderstorms!
