We in Jacksonville are close to a mod risk on day 1 but definitely in a slight risk area. On day2 (sunday) we are in a mod risk area(very rare around here). I know we are expected to evacuate in a hurricane situation.......... But this dont usually generate a mod risk of severe weather/tornadoes... What should mobile home residents do if in a mod risk area? A PDS tornado watch may be issued for us and should we leave or is this situation as bad as hurricanes? Local newscasters have said that with any tornado watch, mobile home residents should leave. Is this true?

You should always leave. My sister lived in a park and they had a rec center, and everyone in the park would go their for shelter. If you don't have one in your area, go to a friends house. My sister had what she called her tornado pack always ready to go. It had snacks, water, juice, games for the kids, and her diaper supplies. If it looked to be a long event, she had those cheap inflatable raft things she kept in the closet and would throw them in the car for the kids to sleep on at the rec center.

Yeah, in general, I think mobile home residents should leave if in a tornado watch. Not everybody is like me (I am glued to a radar pic most always if in a tornado watch and know when its time to go). The NWS only tells people to leave their MH if a tornado warning is issued but IMHO that is too late as you run into a risk of being on the roads and running into a tornado in a car. Believe me, I know that is no place to be in a tornado. I'll tell you my horrific experience of being in a company truck in a probable tornado. I once saw the sky turn very dark when I was headed home for lunch. There was a tornado watch out but not a warning. I saw a brown cloud ahead and decided take a small detour to drive into it. When I got there, all traffic around me stopped as the wind was too strong to drive and I could feel it coming in around the edges of my windows which were up and my ears were popping. Limbs were twirlling across the road in front of me. Strangely once I got through it, about 1 min afterwards, the EAS signal was heard on the radio as a tornado warning was issued due to a spotting about 1 mile to my SW and tornado damage was later confirmed just NE of where I was at the time. I got home and the local news was on the air continuously tracking the tornado. I wrote the NWS and told them of my experience and they said I may have driven through and F0 tornado or a severe thunderstorm. Jek - do not stay in a mobile home during a tornado warning. get to a safe place! Being from tx i am all too familiar with tornados - if one comes over your home - it will be gone and so will you!

Where do yall get them radar pics from? I have had stormlab before and it puts symbols for hail and TVS and mesos but not like that?

Yeah and nados seem to have mobile home sensors as they always hit mobile home parks
