Hello im new to the board so please bear with me while i learn the lingo . I am i guess what you d call petrified of severe weather ....i live in the midlands of sc in a small town Gaston. I was wondering if anyone knew what the exact weather conditions are supposed to be for here from this line of severe storms that are comin thru GA today . Are tornadoes the more prominant threat or is it winds and hail. If anyone could help me out id greatly appreciate it as i live in a mobile home with a four year old son.

Hi, Brandy,
First off: Find your mobile home communiy's storm shelter; it may be needed tonight.
Looking at discussions for the National Weather Service in Columbia, SC, all modes of severe weather are in store for your area, with large hail and damaging winds most likely. Tornadoes, isolated in nature, are possible. Unlike what areas of Alabama/Georgia may see (strong tornadoes) this afternoon, by the time the storms reach you, they should not be as tornadic (still would not rule out isolated weak/weak-moderate tornadoes) with mainly high winds and large hail the main threats. All severe thunderstorms are possible tornado producers.
As always, though, especially since you live in a mobile home, either use an NOAA Weather Radio with alarm feature or monitor your favoirte radio or TV station for the lastest information, updates and possible watches and warnings. When a watch is issued, it is time to check your community storm shelter to make sure it is usable, unlocked, etc. If not, call the manager.

Very strong wordings from the areas AFD's today and tonight. In fact, this setup for Sunday is quite conducive for a large-scale SVR WX outbreak.
