Just want your opinion.

Any and all of them. You can be prepared for all of them - but as with mother nature - expect the uncertain. Therefore, my vote goes to all of them.

but you forgot the number two killer-Lightning. Annually lightning kills more people than tornadoes and hurricanes combined on average. Only Flash floods (the number one weather killer on an annual basis) kill more.
High heat casualties in recent years have been inflated by the numbers of illegals (Vicente's people-which points up the callousness of a Government that encourages it's citizens to risk their lives to escape their failure to build a decent society) who have died trying to cross the Sonora Desert in the hot season despite efforts by US Authorities to discourage the practices and those by Bleeding Hearts to provide water and shelter to them.

Hurricanes is evacuations aren't done properly(w/ flooding).

Straight line winds aren't a big concern.

Hail, depends in the size.

Flooding, yes, especially at night.

Heat index's are mostly a concern.

I have to disagree with you on the straight-line winds ... they can be an incredible concern ... especially in organized squall lines or very large systems that are known as derechos. Derechos (See the Great Adirondack Blowdown which hit NY a few years back) ... an incredible damaging wind making machine ...

Straight-Line Winds can also crop up without warning, especially when pulse severe thunderstorms are involved ... inducing microbursts which can produce straight line winds in excess of 100 mph ...

Although all of them are in and of themselves dangerous depending on severity, I said Hurricanes, because the only thing you won't have in a Hurricane is 110ºF+ heat.

I agree with david on his analysis..except the straight line winds..I was going back in fourth between a tornado and flash flood..I think tornados and flash floods are unpredictable. If either occurs in the dead of night it would be terrifying.. They are both very destructive and can kill with little or no warning..I would have voted for both if I could>>

I voted for tornadoes for the simple fact that, of all those above tornadoes are the most unpredictable. I agree that flash floods are dangerous, but only if you are in a flood-proned area. Tornadoes can happen anywhere and at anytime with little/no warning. Hurricanes are generally warned of in advance, and you can stay inside to avoid high heat.

I think tornadoes are most dangerous b/c of the debris often associated with them.

High heat can be extremely dangerous, especially to areas not accustomed to it and also to the persons who unfortunately do not have A/C ... I believe that the Chicago Heat Wave in 1995? This was a very deadly heat wave.

This is the best reason I voted for all of the above because all of the weather phenomena (including lightning, which wasn't mentioned in the poll) got my vote.

Straight line winds can be dangerous too, I mean 60 to 70 MPH winds took down a motel sign here in my area in 1996!
