Western US UL Ridge

I hate summer time blocks. Same boring weather day after day. So, here we are towards the end of May and a rather substantial heat ridge has set up over New Mexico. Didn't this happen last year? Ridge in the west, trough in the east, strong Bermuda ridge? My only concern is where this ridge will camp out this summer. Conus has been held hostage by a blocking setup since late winter. Well, as they say "trend=friend" once these UL ridges get a foothold they tend to stay put. Personally, I hope the ridge stays out west. I don't want a drought and I feel I am on the edge of one. It has not rained at my house since the first Saturday in May. I am starting to get concerned that the summer will be a hot one.......MGC

We here in AZ prefer that the Upper High be centered in the region of the 4 Corners out towards the Panhandles-that way we get a nice monsoon here. It's best if the Bermuda bridges across so that we have deep easterly flow over the GOM at H5.

I can tell you that this is nothing like last year in the Pacific NW. The weather this year has been totally different than last. It does indeed look like persistence is going to be alive and well this year though. The same ultra wet pattern that Washington State has been in is supposed to continue for at least the next two weeks, with just a few short breaks.

I think the wet pattern is going to break. We are done with rain now until at least next weekend.
That is not a short break.
The pattern for the following week does not look nearly as wet either.
