Earlier today, we had quite a storm across northern Kentucky. A cluster developed around 12pm EDT in southern IN and moved rapidly to the east. It produced large hail, and VERY strong winds. I will post pics when I get a chance. But I wanted to let all here know that I am fine, and so is my family.

Also, Cincinnati had some SVR t-storm warnings this afternoon!

I read online at SPC that there was some t-storm damage around the Newtown, OH area.

Yeah that was the same complex. It headed east pretty rapidly into the metro area, at about 50 mph...but then when it got into the downtown area, it really slowed down and it did produce flooding around Newtown where 4 people were trapped by a flash flood. At one point it had looked like it would pass the downtown area of Cincinnati to the south but it turned into more of a line of storms stretching well into the central portions of Hamilton County. At one point over 30,000 were without power throughout the Cincinnati area.

We got some severe weather here from the same complex. Didn't hold together very well. Very shortlived. We had some brief heavy downpours and some gusty winds here at my house. No reports of hail.

That's really surprising to me. With the warm, moist air ahead of it, I figured it would hold together until sunset.

Yeah I thought the same. Especially since we haven't had any storms at all in my area for awhile. We've had some very unstable air in place for some time.

What a day! We lost power for over 6 hours, many trees are down in my community. We lost one in our back yard but it was old. The east side of Cincinnati and N. Kentucky were hit the hardest I heard on the news. In N. Kentucky a pet care surgical center and boarding facility was hit by lightening. Caught fire and all the animals (cats/dogs) had to be quickly evacuated. Strangers driving by, just stopped their cars and grabbed animals. They were divided up between several other facilities. One employee was interviewed on the news and she said it was quite hectic for a while there. All but one pet has been accounted for - a black schitzu (sp?). It ran across the road and couldn't be found. Owners were calling to find out about their pets, some in the middle of surgery or in recovery. One little dog was wearing the cone around it's neck, looking quite out of it from anethesia, meanwhile it's drizzling still. I know, I know - we're talking pets here. But pets are like children to some (me!).

I'll watch the 11 p.m. news for more info. Haven't heard of any injuries just large trees down everywhere. On cars, blocking streets, etc.

Ironically power came back on just after I got out about a dozen candles. It was near sundown and we were just getting ready to light them. And decide where to sleep for the night. Didn't want to open windows since it was very humid out and if the A/C came back on, it was best to keep them closed. I think it was b/c I got the candles out, it brought us good luck!

It always works like that. Last night my DSL was out for 2 hours... as soon as I picked up the phone and dialed Verizon and waited for about 2 mintues on hold, it started working again.

11 p.m. news showed aerial views of damage. A few streets over from our house, a huge tree came down on top of a car, trapping a few people trapped inside. They're okay now. A cable repairman was doing routine work when the storms hit. He just started putting up his cones, blocking live wires on the ground (not cable). He said it shook him, since he was trapped inside his van. Another older retired man was caught off guard too and took shelter in his shed. Just a simple wooden structure with decorative window. That is until he heard a loud crack and decided to investigate. A large tree came down on that shed. He's lucky to be alive! One electric company repairman went on record saying unoffically it seemed like straight line winds that caused the damage, all in about a minute.

It was strange also b/c I noticed just a few streets away from the heavily damaged neighborhood near me, trees were fine. No limbs down whatsoever. No one outside mingling about. Then 2 blocks south of this area, it was like a war zone.

Today was just a very active news-day in Cincinnati. Bizarre news. There are quite a few from my area, Anderson Township. The one of Woodruff Rd., is 2 blocks from our house.

To say the least a very hectic day for news crews across the Tri-State.

It was great though to see people whose pets (if they had any) weren't even in that building, making rescues. There is some good in this world after all.

Yes Jeremy, there are good people left in this world. I saw footage of strangers helping out and dogs licking their faces! I know without a doubt I would have stopped my car and pitched in. Of course I hope I would have before I got a dog but even more so now. Pets get very nervous for Vet checks and even more so after surgery. Our dog threw up both times after procedures in the car, on the ride home. They are shaky too. Just like people are after anethesia. I just hope they find that lost little dog. If I lived over there I'd be out looking.

Me too, even though this chair doesn't do well in the woods. Which is where this dog is.

Aw, I know you'd help too if you could. We can pray they find this little dog. I've been reading many local news sources tonight and one said people saw the dog come out of the woods but hurry back in. The owner is nearby trying to find him. I remember my dog being in so much pain after one surgery. I almost slept on the couch nearby to keep an eye on her. I ended up keeping our bedroom door open all night to hear her if she needed me. This poor little dog probably had surgery recently too and wonders what the heck happened.

Yes, these storms barely missed me by just a few miles. 10,000 people were without power in Lexington, KY as the storm blew down many power lines across the area. Also, the Fayette Mall in Central Kentucy suffered minor damage to their roof as falling debris smashed through the glass and smashed it on onto a children's play area. The children got out just in time.
