We had some good thunderstorms this evening. The thunder and lightning was almost non-stop with a lot of those REALLY LOUD thunder boomers that shake the house. It was very windy and there was some hail reported in the area, but I didn't get any hail. Anyway, here's a pic of a tree that fell onto a part of the house where one of the occupants had been standing seconds earlier.

One Beaumont family is stunned tonight by how close they came to being injured or possibly killed when a large tree fell onto their home.
It happened about 6:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 11 hundred block of Victoria Street in east Beaumont.
Family members say they heard what they thought was a lightning strike, but it was a 150 year old oak tree crashing down on the home.
Joey Choate was standing on the porch of the home and went inside to get a cup of coffee just as the tree fell right where he had been standing on the porch.
The family feels fortunate, not only that everyone is safe, but that the tree only destroyed an enclosed porch and left the rest of the house liveable.
Despite the damage, the family did not lose electricity.

I saw this too so I figured I'd go ahead and post this on here as well.

A fence at the Kelly High School baseball field off of College Street was knocked down.
Some students were practicing football nearby but left when the dark clouds and heavy rain began to move in about 6 p.m. Wednesday.
The fence appeared to be the only property damaged at Kelly High School.
But a nearby business also suffered damage due to the high winds.
An awning at the Donut Palace was blown down, and a portable sign was knocked over when the severe weather moved through the area.

That's like what I experienced yesterday, heavy rain almost the whole way home and then it let up until it was completely dry by the time I reached home. Not even a trace at the house :grrr: .

I wasn't home when the storms hit but I wish I had brought my digital camera with me. The clouds and lightning were awesome!

I'm putting it in my purse now. I've been caught in storms twice recently without it.
