While sitting in Wingstop with my younger brother just an hour ago or so, we looked out the window and noticed something falling from the sky. After pondering the word for this phenomenon for about 10 minutes, we realized what it was: Rain. That's right Houston, today, we had rain.

:D

I saw a dust storm come off the cane fields at work earlier  . What little shower activity had formed on radar now seems to be already decreasing. I thought we might have a shot at some rain today but apparently not.

Amazing Rainfall statistics for Lafayette:
As of June 27:
Since Jan 1 we've only had 17.04" compared to the average of 30.19".
That's a deficit of 13.15"

LAST year we had received 49.04"! by now giving us a difference of 32" since last year. What a difference a year makes huh?

Help!

Official rainfall for the month in Houston-at Intercontinental Airport-0.09"!! It it holds up till Friday it will be the driest June ever.

At my office at Westheimer and Gessner we had some very heavy but short lived showers just after 1 pm. Cooled us down for the afternoon for once and there is now another thunder shower passing to our South. Not sure if I got any at the house or not. It did sprinkle while I was there during lunch.

We had those same showers pass over us about 15 minutes later. Which would make sense, seeing as the storms were moving West, which is around my area. Dairy Ashford, etc. The showers actually lasted well over 45 minutes. :D

Still waiting down here. My weather blog is rather boring. :) (But I'll take boring over a disaster any day!)

Maddening to say the least. There is a very strong ridge of high pressure over us and it isn't letting up. If you zoom in on the sat loops of the BOC disturbance you can see the W and NW sides of the disturbance trying to push against it and basically getting nowhere. That is indicated by the very straight lines of clouds at the far W/NW edge instead of clouds arcing in towards the center of circulation from that area.

Rain (by the Beatles)

If the rain comes,
they run and hide their heads
they might as well be dead
if the rain comes
if the rain comes

When the sun shines,
they slip into the shade
(when the sun shines down)
and sip their lemonade
(when the sun shines down)

when the sun shines
when the sun shines

Rain, I don't mind
Shine, the weather's fine

I can show you
that when it starts to rain,
(when the rain comes down)
everything's the same
(when the rain comes down)

I can show you
I can show you

Rain, I don't mind
Shine, the weather's fine

Can you hear me
that when it rains and shines,
it's just a state of mind?

Can you hear me?
Can you hear me?

Hahaaha all that junk out in the GOM, and Texas is the only dry state [or country, if you will] on the map! Hehehe I love looking at that wet/dry line off the coast of Texas slowly inch towards us!

not a drop of Rain where I live. Grass in the back yard is dying and many plants in front yard have wilted. Can't really afford to run the water bill up with rising electric and gasoline prices. :(

This was a bad summer to take up gardening! And it seems everyone in the neighborhood except for us has a sprinkler system, so no matter how hard I work it'll look crappy!

POO POO on this drought!!! :grr:
