Good evening. The storms yesterday over central Maryland were mean. Look at http://community.webshots.com/user/schuyler20102 under the breathtaking svr wx photos section of 2003. You will see the thundershowers of 3-29-03 and 5-31-03 on there. I even did some contrast and brightness enhancements on the last 3 photos, exluding the lightning. Hey in this date of digital photography, why not try the photo enhancement. Really turns out sharper and it's very interesting to say the least. The sky was greeen at times, but no wind damage. Quite an outflow yesterday and as someone mentioned earlier, the storms were mean, yes, but as mean as they were no severe wx occurred from it.
Part of the reason for that was there was showers and lots of clouds prior to this frontal passage. So not all the elements came together despite the fact the dynamics were in place. If the sun was out and temps were 85 degrees, not 70 degrees at the surface, that could have easily increased our severe threat by a tremendous amount. Tornadoes could have easily occurred if temps were 10 degrees warmer than they wee yesterday. So we were very fortunate. Watch out on Saturday June 7th for another frontal passage and possibly more strong storms at that time.
