When was the last time we have had such a hot and dry start to the summer? I'm use to August-September heat waves but this is starting to concern me.
Does anybody think we will have a early start to fall like last year?

Last year we had a couple of significant fronts in July and August which really kept the temps down. Wondering will that occur this year to balance out this Heat Wave.

Oh I thought you were talking about when I FALL down from heat exhaustion

Feels like August more than July. And not even August in Austin - this feels like North Texas!

I live in an oven. The Austin forecast is HORRIBLE. Look at these temps!!! I dropped a frozen meal on the ground and didn't pick it up right away and in about 30 secs on the ground it was nearly defrosted. Is that wrong or what? This weather is just about to drive me crazy.
Okay, enough ranting and raving about the weather. Ugh.

After a beautiful 4th of July weekend... it looks like we could see some significant rain this week here in Seattle. 
Temperatures were around 80 degrees yesterday under perfect sunshine... but we may get stuck in the upper 60's by tomorrow.
Sorry. The contrast is so great that I had to mention our weather up here in the PNW!!

And this rain stuff you are talking about. I remember the history books talking about it...it is stuff that falls from the sky right???

That's too many highs in the upper 90's days to be NTX in August. Add a few more 100's, then you got it.

^ LOL. Well, what happens is that as the week goes on, the forecast changes from '98' to ''101". They don't want us to freak out so they pretend it will cool off (yeah right)

Geez, if we don't catch any rain from Dennis next week ... this is really going to get nasty here in central Texas.
As you other Austinites know ... lawns are frying daily here in central Texas. It has been 5 weeks or so since it has rained at all!

I hear you there , Portastorm.
The more water I seem to pour on my lawn, the browner it gets. Seems like I am frying the grass. May water bill was $150 last month, partly because my lawn is new and it required alot of water to get it going. But this month's bill will be ugly too.

Tell me about it. I watered my back yard and the grass got browner. What a waste of time and money

High temps drop by 4-5 degrees starting Monday. I wonder if they are expecting a front to come through.

No rain here in Galveston...yet. But on the 10PM news on ABC13, they were reporting on the story about the HPD officer who commandeered a Kansas City ambulance (a whole other story, I know). However, the reporter was live at the HPD HQ and had an umbrella! I saw rain!

I believe it is some kind of residual effect from Dennis ... whereas if he makes landfall in Louisiana and treks northward, he will help pull down cooler, drier air from north of the southern Plains.
That would be nice either way.
