three wall clouds

hello everyone! you are absolutely not going to believe what i captured this evening from one single location shortly after the first tornado warning was issued for three counties including mine! the following links will say it all and i am still awaiting confirmation as to whether that is a funnel cloud in the first image but i believe wholeheartedly from observing it for an extended period of time that it is. LOL! do you think these will make for good painting references? hope that wherever you may be, that you are safe and well! enjoy! Paul

Hey Pawlee!
These pictures are awesome! My opinion about the possible funnel cloud in the first picture is: I definitely think something was there. Yes, it does look like a funnel cloud, but in all actuallity, it really is too far away to confirm unless I was there. :p The picture of you looking North toward Marora, is AWESOME! I really like this picture because everything is so well defined. It actually looks like there may be a possible funnel or lowering coming out of this cool lookin wall cloud. But, I don't know for sure since I didn't witness it, and it's not ominous. Well done with the pics! I hope you had fun..The rotating scub pic is cool too. Coming from West Texas and chasing experience, I say, WELL DONE! Best of Luck for future naders!!

yeah, that first one is indeed questionable but what made this such a good observational opportunity is that the storms bubbled up on a stationary outflow boundary caused by a big line in S IL. shucks, i could've pulled up a lawn chair and a glass of lemonade because watching these three areas mature and then dissipate was like watching cows in a field! the NWS issued the tornado warnings as more of a general caution than anything due to the possibility that small spin-up's might occur along the entire line. thanks for the kind words! p
ps: just went through your site and love those chase pics! that must've been an unbelievable adrenaline rush and especially when that one tornado was heading right for you! i also love your lightning pics as lightning is so difficult to capture... great work!

even still though, had to make sure and be clear on the uncertainty hence why i didn't call a funnel. calling something that isn't can get someone into hot water. i read on another list that a few weeks ago, a HAM operator here called a tornado but was corrected by a number of other observers in the same area. instead of being like "thanks", he belted out on the radio "F*&% Y@#!!!". ticked me off to hear but there are those out there without a lick of meteorological knowledge who just want to "be the hero" by calling a tornado. those who usually think everything moving is a tornado aren't seeing with their eyes but through their selfish ego and are the last one's who need to be in the field... p

believe it or not, for now, this all i use. takes better pics than i've ever expected! was $75 at Walmart, got it on sale for $52. has a video feature that has enabled me to capture lightning and pull stills. not as good as say a $200 Sony cam but for the price, i definitely got my money's worth and then some... p
