Well, Well, well ...

Several days ago, I reported on severe weather in the Lowcountry including wind damage to the area ... and a very close bolt of lightning which seemed like it was almost on top of the house ...

Well, the telltale signs of a tree being hit by lightning have revealed themselves...just two houses down from me (about 100 yards away) ...

I'll try to get pictures when I can ...

Bumping this one back to the top ... another tree was also hit during that storm and I found the tree that was struck ... it's on the side of Ladson Rd and I will take some pictures and post them very shortly for all to view the damage to the tree ...

That makes 6 trees along Ladson Rd. that have been struck within the 3 years ... 3 on one side and 3 on another ... and all within a stretch of road no more than ¼ mile long ... which I will post later

Both trees were hit by the same lightning strike plus two other glancing blows ... One tree was totally debarked by the strike and the other severely damaged and both trees will need to be removed before they can cause serious damage if blown over by strong winds ...

I wasn't aware that there were more than 1 tree struck on the June 3rd storm which in the Charleston area produced widespread wind damage in West Ashley and the James Island areas, as well as the small towns of Hollywood and Ravenel.

This tree was the most severely struck which totally destroyed it.

This was the tree which I thought was the only one originally hit by the June 3rd lightning blast ... from the angle of pulling out into the main road across this area, you cannot see the other tree ... It was apparent when I had stopped off to the newly constructed widening of the road to snap pictures of the trees that the first tree, pictured above, was the clearly where the main bolt pulverized ...

This is the original angle of the 2nd tree in which you cannot see the 1st tree ...

Last but not least, both trees in the picture ... two other trees were grazed by the lightning which obliterated both these trees ... but do not show in this pic...
