How many of you in Storm2k who are not met students are taking time to
sit down and study how to analyze sounding charts, jet dynamics, etc ?
With both children almost out of the nest, I finally have time to dive into
some of the complexities of weather and forecasting. If you have the time
don't miss out on the opportunity. I am just giddy about what I'm learning
on my own time. One more chapter until I get to the chapter on chart
analysis. I can't wait ! Eric in Rock Hill, SC

Well, I'm rather young yet... going to 7th grade... been interested in weather since I was about 4 yrs old......When I get older, I will begin studying all the technical weather things, models, everything....and hopefully it'll go well! ;)

Pileus, What book are you reading? I just got "Weather Forecasting Handbook" by Tim Vasquez, and it's AWESOME!! I'm also doing the class over on Wxchat. I've learned so much in the last 3 weeks! And, like you, I'm having the time of my life!! :D

Donna, I would love to get the book... "Weather Forecasting Handbook" sounds great. I only have a few weather books, the more complex ones are the best for me, as I continue to teach myself more involved parts of the science. It sound good enough that I would like to buy it for myself. My mother actually said I can get anything I want, but my birthday is only twenty-three days from now.

It seems as though I cannot get anything I want with the money I have accumulated. It isn't easy not being able to do things fully on your own when you are actually independent, but dependent only because you live with your parents.

Donna, I received the same book in the mail last week from Weather
Graphics. Yes it is awesome. I like the review questions at the end of each
chapter. But I would like more info from you on the classes in WX chat.

Eric, I saw that you recently joined Wxchat.com. It's also a great board with many friendly and knowledgeable people and some really good tutorials.
The class is challenging, but not totally out of our league. We use http://theweatherprediction.com/ for a textbook. Great info! Homework has only been about 1-2 hrs/wk. In fact, Tom (Coldfront) and Joshua took the class last term. We're 3 weeks into it now, so I don't know if you can get in or wait til the next one. Contact "wiscwxtechnician" (Jordan) over at wxchat via PM or email. Hope to see you there! :D

Tom - Get that book if you can. I'm telling you ... I can't put it down!!

Wow, your posting is very impressive.

Amusing coincidence. I first became interested in the weather at the age of 6. In sixth grade, I turned in a "book" filled with all the weather info that I recorded from my weather radio and won first prize in the school science fair.
