New Site: Confirmed Tornadoes of 2006

Call me crazy or naive or whatever, but I've created a page on my site to try to keep accurate records of confirmed 2006 tornadoes (i.e., LSRs and PNSs). I've already got 35 confirmed for January and 3 (or 2 depending on further surveying) confirmed in NoLa for February. I will be as diligent as time allows in keeping this site updated (usually posted 2 days after the event) and will 'bump' this thread when significant events are listed.

Also -- if you come across any relevant information not already listed on the site (NWS/news pages), PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE send me the link.

Interesting. There should be a few more added to that list for today, too. Active January for tornadoes.

This is very cool. Pretty busy winter for svr wx so far, including today.
Nice having the totals at the bottom of each month, including strongest one.

Just updated to include 6 confirmed on the 9th, and the Perry County, MO segment of an F3+ from last night. I anticipate adding a couple DOZEN more by the end of this coming week (based on what's been happening since yesterday).

There were, from my count, 12 tornadoes last night (not counting multiple reports of the same likely tornado, awaiting confirmation) and 8 so far today. Several of them appear to be significant, and the Sedalia and Boonville area tornadoes are probably around F3 based on the descriptions given. The Columbia tornado my guess is an F2, but that is just my speculation.

As I said before, really nice job. I just wanted to reiterate, thanks for working so hard to keep your site updated, I really appreciate what you're doing right here, putting all the tornado stats on one page. Well done again! 8-)

Yes I agree! It is the best resource on the Internet!

I still have, to my count, at least 35 tornadoes unconfirmed (without ratings).

Thanks for the appreciation! Just updated the site to include the VIOLENT TORNADO that struck parts of Monroe County MO on Sunday Night.

I just saw that - and it was more striking as a DOUBLE tornado!!! Thank God it didn't go into any communities or it would have been catastrophic - like that one in Indiana on Palm Sunday 1965!

Alrite -- as of 600pm EST on Thursday, I can confirm 71 tornadoes so far this month. 24 F0s, 20 F1s, 15 F2s, 10 F3s, 1 F4 and 1 with an unknown rating (Clay County MS). These tornadoes, by my calculations, were responsible for 9 deaths and 122 injuries.

Correction about two of the tornadoes: the F1 in Carroll AR and Stone MO at 0450-0457 was the same tornado that continued on the same path.

Also, the Randolph/Monroe that killed four was upgraded to F3.
