No more of that old black background, from now all it's all RIDGE. I checked just this morning and it was still the old black background but now it's forever gone (unless you've saved it like I did).

Note how it is all RIDGE.

On the bottom of the map where it says "Full Resolution Version" click on it. Pretty impressive, eh? May need that during severe weather outbreaks or landfalling TC's.

EDIT: If Red X's come out, then open a new window and go to the NWS site, and click on the "Radar" tab. Then it should work.

Yeah, the saving part was good, but I personally thought they were too "old-school." It was time for a change a long time ago. Also... have you considered using GR Level 3?

Finally... one last thing... with the new RIDGE radar, overlaying is now possible. Check out http://www.weatherstationmaps.info/weather/index.jsp and play with the radar features. You can also get the RIDGE data onto Google Earth--which is AWESOME when it comes to tropical storms. Normally when I'm running recon data, I'll have an NRL satellite image with the RIDGE radar overlapped while plotting recon data.

You do have a good point there. That's why I use RAP for my radars, and unlike the NWS ones, they are archived up to five days. GRLevel3 isn't archived (well, for only two hours), and they cost $$$.
