Large area of heavy rains sagging slowly S to the Houston-Galveston Areas while more development occurs out to the W near Austin. Numerous Flash Flooding Warnings in effect just NW of SE TX. Looks to be a very wet afternoon.

If y'all get anything like us ... it's already rained more than 2 inches in north Austin in the last few hours. We have a FFW right now. Many cloud-to-ground lightning strikes. I counted 10 of them in a 7-mile drive from my house to work. One of them popped a pole generator right by my car!
We're getting hammered right now.

I hope so, but according to the radar it's going to slide just north of where I am. We sure do need the rain though.

Having a lovely rainy morning here in West Houston. Nothing too terribly heavy, but a really good soaker. Hope it keeps up a while!

Hopefully it all slides my way later today, we really need the rain. The radar has sure lit up south of Houston though.

Alot of bark (thunder and lightning) and little bite (.25 of rain at my house). Some areas south and west of me in very isolated spots got 2 to 4 inches so if it helps those farmers and ranchers, good for them.
But I learned two things today.
1) My windsheild wipers still work on my truck.
2) My rain guage still holds rainwater.

We got some good rain here today (west side of town) I was out running errands in it all day, and when I got home it was sunny... Go Figure...Supposed to rain tomorrow too, I have to work, so hopefully it will be a sloooooow day!!

Yeah it was a weird day today. Constant rain from mid morning through mid afternoon and then the sun broke out during the late afternoon (and it became mostly sunny for a few hours). Clouds should build back in overnight with another 50-70% chance of rain tomorrow.

Only had a few drops today. Tomorrow we have a 50% chance but I'm not holding out much hope since we miss every system. Sprinkler time is here!

I've been hearing this odd, unfamiliar booming, rumbling sound come from the sky, preceded by flashes of light.

What is going on?
Oh, and get this: Some water, yes WATER, has fallen from the sky.
Omgosh... The sky is falling! The sky is falling!

WOW - the radar looks very promising right now - and it's actually moving this way!

yes! Storms are actually moving toward us, and there is even a warning out for a cell north of Beaumont. Hopefully Harris County will see a warning for the cells developing in the western part of the county...if we do, then a nice lightning show could be in store! Also, the NWS has put out this special weather statement:
...FUNNEL CLOUDS POSSIBLE TODAY...
A MOIST AND UNSTABLE AIRMASS IS IN PLACE TODAY WHICH WILL RESULT
IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF SCATTERED TO NUMEROUS SHOWERS AND
THUNDERSTORMS. CONDITIONS ARE ALSO FAVORABLE FOR THE DEVELOPMENT OF
SHORT-LIVED FUNNEL CLOUDS. FUNNEL CLOUDS WERE REPORTED EARLIER IN
WHARTON COUNTY...NORTHEAST OF EL CAMPO. WHILE NONE ARE CURRENTLY
EXPECTED TO TOUCH DOWN AND BECOME TORNADOES...THERE IS ALWAYS A
REMOTE POSSIBILITY THAT A BRIEF TOUCHDOWN COULD OCCUR.
THEREFORE..RESIDENTS OF SOUTHEAST TEXAS SHOULD KEEP AN EYE TO TO
THE SKY THIS AFTERNOON AND AVOID ANY OBSERVED FUNNEL CLOUDS.

COUNTY LINE NEAR SOUTHWEST HOUSTON AT 2:20 PM.
