Can dogs predict the weather?

I was taking Oscar and Greta for their walk today and I noticed Oscar eating grass. Nothing unusual, since he normally does that when he isn't feeling well and needs to stimulate himself into vomiting (eww). But he hasn't done that in a long time, and I remembered an old weather superstition about "if you see a dog eating grass, expect rain". Now I didn't need Oscar to tell me it's going to rain later today...there's a feeling in the air today that every Texan should recognize. But it got me thinking, is there any truth to the old-wives tales?
Probably a coincidence, but I thought I'd ask out of curiosity.

One of my fathers clients lives near a town called Milverton here.
A few days after the August 19, 2005 severe weather outbreak here, my dad was out to see him. One of the F2 tornadoes passed less than a kilometre away from his house, and that day he said that his dog, which is a Golden Retriever, sat at the end of the driveway looking at the direction of where the tornado passed. The guy had to run out to get the dog in the thunderstorm because it wouldn't come back to the house.

They can! My dog hasn't acted strange tonight, and we haven't had any severe weather!

Well my cousins dog up in IN goes nuts like an hour before a storm. Not usual nuts but he goes into convultions and they have to sedate the dog until the storm is over.
