Thanks for the links - hadn't thought to check the news/tv stations yet. I was looking at our weather at weather.com, check my parents (who are in Cincinnati), and saw they were under a Torndao Warning. I'm just now getting my heart out of my chest!

Edit: A touchdown in Dayton, too? Hope my extended family is okay!

Vandora - I hope they're safe! Local TV updates state there are numerous areas with power outages. The Cincinnati area (I 275 loop) is pretty much in the clear, this involved Milford, Morrow, Goshen - Clermont, Clinton and Warren Counties. More storms could develop by 3 or 4 this morning. If you talk to them, update them on more possible severe wx in the middle of the night. After hearing about these touchdowns, if I'm awakened by storms tonight, I am turning on that TV!

Haven't heard of any injuries - that's very good news. But these tornado touchdowns seemed to come out of nowhere. We just had a rainy day and hadn't heard of any possible severe weather.

Here's Channel 9's main page - lots of links on it:

Parents are fine - they're in Anderson. Still not sure about Dayton family, but I'm sure they are fine, at least the few in Centerville and I see the tornado lifted before Centerville.

I let my mom know... They have a weather radio so they will have it on all night, though my mom is not completely mobile, so hopefully she can make it downstairs (basement). She knows she might have to, though, so that's good! Appricate the headsup.

She said the same thing - nice day today, surprised about this.

You be careful, too!!

Check your PM's Vandora - we live in Anderson too - small world huh?

I found a link for Dayton news:

BTW, here's a link I've saved a long time ago. It comes in handy, a lot!

Let us know how your Dayton relatives are.

Florence got this first, but it was all heavy rain. Checked on relatives in Butler Co., Ohio (specifically the Hamilton, OH region) after hearing of the Carlisle touchdown and all are fine.

That's what it was. It came literally out of absolutely nowhere at all. No one had any clue what was going to happen. Really shows how unpredictable nature really is.

Okay, here's a real novice wx question......one witness to a tornado 2 days ago, said he was outside grilling steaks, saw the wind was whipping up, looked over and saw a funnel but the sky wasn't dark at all. Light actually. He saw it on the ground and then he saw shingles mixed up in it. At that point he ran inside and told his family to head to the basement. They managed to get downstairs just in time. They heard the wind but not the traditional train sound. The man emphasized that to the media - no typical train sound. Can tornadoes be silent? That's my question I guess.

This entire outbreak is very odd!

Totally agree...as the main prime season is March through June and then a second season in the fall from September through November.

November of last year when one devastated Newburgh, IN.

Also, in November 1988 one hit some 'burbs in Raleigh.
