This is a first for us.........one person at Woodland Lake Park in Pinetop was struck by lightning today, 6 August, at 1345 hrs., don't know his condition but it sounded critical over the scanner and shortly there after at 1410 hrs., a house was struck in the Pinetop Lakes Country Club and it burned to the ground To the best of my knowledge this was the first person to be struck by lightning in Pinetop, the guy was standing on a STEEL boat dock approx. 50 yards off shore when he got zapped We had one helluva storm, 1.12" of rain and some INTENSE CG lightning!

This is INSANE.......ANOTHER man was struck TODAY, about 30 minutes ago No word on his condition but it can't be good!

NOW....the winner of the "Darwin Award" yesterday, the one standing on the metal boat dock, his condition? Not good but still alive although I'd bet at this point in time he wishes he DIDN'T make it........poor soul, the lighting struck his left heel and exited from, uh, his rear end no joke! I talked to the paramedic today at the PD, he was picking up our DR (dept. report) and he said qoute "I bet he doesn't eat hot mexican food for a LONG time!" Sorry, but when your in the business of public safety you get numb to stuff like this.

If he's still alive then he hasn't won a Darwin yet. Just Honorable Mention.

PINETOP-LAKESIDE - White Mountains residents should be alert to the danger of lightning this time of year. Three people were injured by lightning on the boatdock at Woodland Lake Park about 3 p.m. Aug. 6.

A man standing on the aluminum boatdock was stuck directly. Firefighters with Pinetop Fire Department gave him emergency medical treatment and he was taken to Navapache Regional Medical Center. Two additional people were injured, treated and released, according to the fire department public information officer Stuart Bishop.
A message posted on the Pinetop Fire Department website Aug. 7 said: "Look up, look down, look around." It warns that the area has been experiencing many lightning strikes. People need to be aware of lightning even if the sun is shining, as it can strike as many as 15-20 miles ahead of a storm cell.

Well, technically it's just "removed from the gene pool" . . . which doesn't necessarily mean death . . .

It's guaranteed he will never reproduce again according to the EMT who was on scene......along with not being able to eat, he cannot, uh.......you get the picture!
