I don't know what it is, but it seems like lately whenever the weekend rolls around or is close, it snows in the mountains. Check out conditions below:

So how much snow actually fell? That's a good 3 hours...it could've been a couple of inches.
I heard that it also snowed up in the Tetons. It's getting to be that time of year again.

.NOW..
NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE SPOTTERS REPORT SNOW AT ELEVATIONS ABOVE
7500 FEET ALONG THE WYOMING BORDER (with Idaho) THIS MORNING. LIGHT RAIN IS
FORECAST TO CONTINUE OFF AND ON THROUGH THE REMAINDER OF THE
MORNING...WITH LIGHT SNOW OR A MIX OF RAIN OR SNOW AT THE HIGHER
ELEVATIONS OF THE REGION. VERY LIGHT SNOW ACCUMULATIONS ARE
POSSIBLE...BUT WILL MELT OFF QUICKLY ONCE THE PRECIPITATION ENDS.
Fall is certainly approaching.
EDIT: And this is for the Western Uinta Mountains:
Rest of Today
Partly cloudy with scattered showers and thunderstorms in the morning...then showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Snow possible over peaks. Cooler. Some thunderstorms may produce large hail in the afternoon. Highs at 8000 feet in the upper 50s.

They were taken in the San Juan and Mosquito Ranges. I didn't actually take them, but they are hyperlinked to 14ers.com. It's where we meet to discuss the mountians and swap our photos, etc.

I have relatives who live in Ridgway, CO. They have a stunning view of the San Juan Mountains.

I lived there in 1986. We visited Glacier National Park alot. It was very pretty. The northern lights were pretty too.

Yeah, but it's much less common to find someone who used to live in Kalispell.

I lived there for about 8 months in 1994 and 1995. Moved to Salt Lake City at the end of January in 1995. Had to drive here in a monster snowstorm. I was only 4 years old, however, so I can hardly remember the place. I visited there this last summer, though; it's a very nice place.
