Much Needed Rain

#1 Postby simplykristi » Sun Aug 27, 2006 11:01 am

Hi All,
Since Friday night, we have gotten much needed rain. There has been 3.50 inches of rain here since Friday night. It is a very welcome sight!

And there's much more rain to come this morning! SWEET!!

The only question is: Will it be enough to cover the 6 inch rain deficit?

Very doubtful. But hopefully, this is just a start of more consistent rain events. I'm hoping for an easing of the water restrictions in my area by end of Sept, but Lake Lavon needs a lot of rain for that to happen.

From the Radar Loop, the storms in West Texas are moving ENE, so yeah, they're heading my direction. By the time it's all said and done, we'll probably get at least 2-3 inches to put a dent in the drought.

Shoot ... I'm excited because I'm seeing rain one county away right now! Isn't that sorry?!

Our local NWS forecasters appear optimistic about our rain chances so we shall see.

latest AFD mentions the front WILL make it! :D

STRENGTHENING UPPER
TROUGH AXIS WORKING ITS WAY EASTWARD TOWARD THE EASTERN STATES THIS
WEEK WILL ALLOW A COLD FRONT TO MOVE THROUGH SOUTHEAST TEXAS SOME TIME
TOMORROW OR TOMORROW NIGHT.
GRADUAL DRYING BEHIND THIS FRONT MEANS MUCH
DRIER WEATHER FOR THE AREA WEDNESDAY THROUGH SATURDAY. THE DRIER AIRMASS
WILL BRING COOLER OVERNIGHT LOW TEMPERATURES TOO...AND WE MIGHT EVEN
DROP INTO THE 60S ACROSS OUR NORTHERN COUNTIES THURSDAY MORNING AND
FRIDAY MORNING.
RAIN MIGHT COME BACK INTO THE PICTURE BY SUNDAY AS ANOTHER
FRONTAL BOUNDARY APPROACHES THE AREA.

And ANOTHER front is expected on Sunday too!

DFW has only reached 81 degrees today; I'll bet that's a huge relief for you guys.

Glad to see a break in the weather for north TX and the KC region. We ended up with 4.25 inches of rain over the weekend.
