Oddity today for me (x2)

I had two odd weather events happen to me today.

1) It rained for about two minutes this afternoon.
2) After the clouds from the 2 PM rainband cleared out; the temperature jumped from 71 to 82. At 6 PM. :o Isn't that weird? :o

I half-expect more of the same when Claudette's remnants arrive; only with more than 120 seconds of rain.

Wow...that's weird. Here's hoping that you get some of Claudette's remnants! :)

In San Diego county; around the same time that I warmed to the low and mid 80s; some cities there were roasting in temps from 90 to 96 degrees :o !

you may have caught the remnants of last night's line that formed west of Tucson. You would have to look at the U/A maps to see what the flow did as you might be catching easterlies off the U/A High over AZ.

From what I hear; the flow here is southeasterly. So you may be right Steve. According to my AFD; the sudden warmup was indeed caused by subsidence following that brief rain and associated easterly wave.

Nice to hear you got a little rain, Josh. And you could get more when Claudette's remnants arrive. 8-)

We also have a 20% chance of showers this morning :D . Nothing in the cards from the NWS for tomorrow yet (for some odd reason  ) ... dunno why.

there was a report from Death Valley posted reporting rain and a temperature of 114F. We are overcast and about 19F cooler than yesterday at this time and our chances for big boomers have gone down. SPC saying SW AZ and SE CA could see action today.

It's overcast from what I can see (south and southeast) and the temp is a muggy 74.8° at 3:58 PM.
