Lightning can travel for miles from the parent t-storm thru clear air, making it particularly dangerous in places like FL where storms pop up quickly and haze can often obstruct view.

Hey isobar,

Our local met here in north GA was just talking about this a couple days ago. He was warning people about the danger of lightning miles away from a storm, and actually showed a stray bolt on radar. Pretty cool but dangerous!
