Time of day and time of year probably had a major part of why it feel apart. Lost daytime heading and the instability goes bye bye. This time of year, dew points arent up in the upper 60's and lower 70's like in the summer time, where a squall line can keep going well past nightfall.

We had a southeast flow during the day, causing more stable conditions.
