great surf headed for cali

6-8 foot surf is headed to cali in a combined sw/nw swell.

the s.w swell has traveled over 3,000 miles to reach cali coast

Wow!!! If I didn't recognize the water tower and a few other things I would have to say that couldn't be Pensacola Beach!!! The surf oesn't come up like that very often in P'cola!!!!!!!!!!! If I didn't know better I would have said it was hurricane surf, except there are no tropical systems in the GM and most hurricane surf doesn't close out that bad either. I sure would have been out in it with Yancy Sr. 40 years ago though if we had surf like that. What memories!!! Thanks.

Yes that was definitely the biggest surf we've seen all year so far.I went out there on Monday and it was really going off.One set that came in was 10+ feet, it was incredible...and a little scary lol.This past summer has been the flattest summer I've ever seen,probably because there have been no hurricanes to kick it up.This surf was from the same system that flooded SE TX and SW LA a few days ago.

That is what I suspected. Just imagine if this systm had really gotten out in th GOM and gotten going!!! :eek: :eek:
