What does everyone think is the most "forgotten" severe weather event of 2006? That means incredibly destructive yet not talked about much in the media or on the grand scale.

I think there are three nominations that stand out:

1) The Buffalo snowstorm, October 12-13

2) The "endless derecho", July 17-21

3) The second spring tornado outbreak, April 2

The first one was because of its sudden and destructive nature that seemed to get little coverage. The second one was because it was so widespread and had the biggest power loss of any 2006 weather event. The third one was because it was the one that did not hit any major centers, yet was the deadliest.

Any other thoughts?

Definitely the endless derecho. Did not even hear a news report on it (although I was in Canada during the time).

The Buffalo storm was covered pretty well.

The April 2 outbreak had not-so-good coverage but I did save a news report of it so that had to be something.

i havent even heard about the endless derecho.

The hurricane season

Ernesto...I havent heard anything on him since he hit...and he affected me!

What hurricane season?? HAHAHA

Mine would have to be the snowstorm in october.

The Buffalo snowstorm? Forgotten? It gots tons of news coverage and is still fresh in my memory. It would have the be the derecho.

Although I bet no one heard about the thunderstorm here on August 1 that caused $13 million in damages. Haha!

I'll vote for April 2..

The endless derecho ... I heard absolutely nothing about that ...

AHHHHHH .... I know why the "derecho event" on the 17th and 18th were forgotten ... Because the massive flooding problems in a saturated Pennsylvania was making all the headlines during that timeframe ...

the Aug. 24 Nicollet tornadoes, produced an F3 that tracked 30 miles and a h*ll of a lot of damage.
