Despite the rain we got and winter weather conditions on Thursday, the City of Irving enacts on Stage 3 watering restrictions effective December 2nd, and will be in place indefinitely.

Of course the next few days are too cold to water the lawns anyway.

It's going to take a long time for the reservoirs and aquifers of Texas to recover from drought conditions of this past summer - and the past several summers in many areas. Here's hoping for El Nino to kick our butts this winter!

Stooge, we've been at Stage 3 since June 1st. Our water comes from Lavon which is still like 16' below normal pool elevation.
I hope that most people are done watering lawns now anyway. This wintry precip and freezing temps should've pushed the grass into dormacy, if it wasn't already there. I expect to see the brown lawns of winter now. I've turned off our sprinklers back in October and haven't run them since. There was no need with some semi-regular rains we were getting. I wish more people would do that.

The biggest laugh is that a Four Seasons Hotel in the Las Colinas area had their sprinklers running in their golf course this morning.

The hotel grounds keeper probably knew what he was doing with the watering. Golf course grounds maintenance isn't just cut, mow and water. They even attend schools for the proper education on maintenance.
