Very sad, the local news station should have scenes from these areas soon. Hopefully they find the missing children.
Edit: Just heard on the news that there could be another person dead along with the three missing children.

Eughh .. not a good start to the year. Tornado Watch #1 and we already have a killer tornado... It looks like a tornado warning was issued for the area at 3:40 so there appears to have been warning, unlike the other suspected tornado that hit today. I think it was a good call by NWS for the tornado watch. I know a few people were surprised by their decision not to issue a plain old Svr T Watch given the radar presentation of the storms as the watch was issued.

Hmm the cell in Terrebone Parish has shown a fairly large doughnut showing broad rotation which has increased on each of the last few scans. I'd expect a warnign to go up for that very area soonish. Heading NNE towards Thibadaux. I think we have some members in that area. Stay safe!

Really? I live just south of Thibodaux. About 5 miles south of Thibodaux.

Well It's not strengthening anymore, although rotation is still evident on the storm but do keep an eye out. I don't want to scare you unecessarily heh.
Edit: new scan shows a meso indicator re-appearing...
Expect heavy rain to start within the next 10-15 minutes.

Yes, the news just broke in. It is lightning right now but nothing too bad. I don't know how much longer I will be able to stay online. We may loose power.

It never even got that bad here. Just some lightning and nothing more. I seen much worse than this before. On Jan 2, 1999 a tornado hit my neighborhood while I was still sleeping around 6 a.m.

Glad things were ok for you! I was pretty worried for while as the rotation appeared to restrenghten as it approached but luckilty it died again as quickly as it strengthened. Also the main area of rotation went to the west of Thibodaux so even if idropped a tornado it would have missed to the west, but I certainly wouldn't have taken any chances in that situation

I wouldn't be surprised if it briefly got a funnel going to the South West looking at raday. By no means the strongest rotation but ample for a weak funnel or tornado.

It already passed my area and it never got that bad at all. The radar looked worse than what the weather actually was.
