Your post was interesting so I did a little search I am afraid I didnt come up with much but heres what I did find

In 1963, the Great New Year's Eve Snowstorm struck the Deep South. Meridian Mississippi received 15 inches, while Bay Saint Louis on the Mississippi Gulf Coast had 10.5 inches. New Orleans received 4.5 inches of snow on New Year's Day, resulting in a huge traffic jam on the way to the Sugar Bowl.

In 1963 A snowstorm struck the Deep South. Meridian MS received 15 inches of snow, 10.5 inches blanketed Bay St Louis MS, and 4.5 inches fell at New Orleans LA. Freezing temperatures then prevailed for New Year's Day.

I was a little girl but I definitely remember that snow fall. We had so much fun. Kept running inside for more dry socks.
