STORM2K

I know that many people in the swath of the tornado don't have power, but I'm just wondering if we've had a check-in yet from Chad, etc. to see how they are doing.

Also Coldfront77 who used to be an S2K member lives in The Villages. Terrible situation.

I'm on the phone with chad right now. Said a tornado hit about 1/2 mile from his home. He has no electricity but he's ok. His business is ok.

Thank God and thanks for the update CajunMama. 1/2 mile is way to close for comfort.

Oh i forgot to add...Chad said "it is nasty" over there!

isobar --- Coldfront77 was who I was thinking of. He lived with his elderly parents, I believe. The Villages is a huge area and the Sumter County part took the biggest hit. I'm thinking he lives in Marion County, but I just can't recall for sure.

I can't imagine anything scarier. Does anyone know what level like a F2 or F3? That damage is incredible!

Of course not everyone knows about our "check in" procedure when there are large scale severe weather events. May be time to resurrect and advertise that again.

Of course, that is primarily for hurricanes, which can affect a large number of us (thankfully not me, unless it takes a really strange path).

An excellent idea. Maybe the moderators or someone can bump the topic every time something like this happens.

Maybe also tack on the NOAA Wx Radio thread (a link) I made in this section as well and sticky the check in?

A few of the moderators, like me and southerngale, have the confidential information of members who have sent it in. If you would like to send your member name, real name (kinda funny to call and say, "May I please speak to CajunMama?"), city, state and phone number(s).

The check-in list proved invaluable during hurricanes katrina and rita.

I would Like it if you would call me and call me "LaPlaceFF"......at least I know who's on the other end!!!

I don't know if yall tried calling me after Katrina......cell phone service was nonexistant after the storm.
