Re: Florida Weather
Full on (actual) spring looks like it will arrive by next weekend with a string of upper 80s/low 90s for most of southern FL. Tomorrow is probably the last cool day then the heat cranks up a notch. The GFS model is a furnace starting around the 26th for SW FL with highs in the mid 90s.

Re: Florida Weather
Huge let down as far as rainfall as looks like any significant rain should stay over the Gulf Stream and Straits with a possibility of some rain over far southern areas of South Florida. I was looking forward to the 80% rain chances this weekend which look to have evaporated. Still a shot tonight but no doubt models had a tough time with this setup considering what they were showing just a few days go for the weekend rainfall event here.

I hear ya. Events were rescheduled and plans changed. We really could use a little rain. Now I'm hoping if the heat starts to pour it on, that the rain will follow to cool it off.

Live by the models. Die by the models. Local Mets down here were hyping rainy Sunday but looks like didn't pan out. Oh well. It happens

Yes huge bust for rain just overcast and just might have to wait until the end of May to get rain because this rain event is not going to happen.

Re: Florida Weather
Well, we did get a small shower near midnight last night. Enough to make the driveway wet. I'll take it.

It was forcasted to be in the upper 60's today in Pinellas County. My weather apps said it was only in the mid 50's for the high. Truly a more miserable day than expected with a harsh wind to boot.
Hope they get it right the rest of the week.

I'm on rain and severe weather watch, but looks like we make it through March and the first week of April without much, if any. In fact our weather looks painfully boring for weeks. I think we are going to see the colors ramp up on the US Drought Monitor map for a few weeks.

Re: Florida Weather
This is the norm of Florida spring these days. Unrelenting sun, with peripheral showers offshore dissipating before arriving no matter the flow. If we're lucky, we get a big fat high pressure whale to just keep any clouds away. I do wonder if the development of the metro areas has contributed to it too.

Red tide is abating on the gulf coast...very good news. Weather has been superb but we are crunchy dry over the peninsula. With all of the fuel loads from last year's storms...increasing fire danger is likely to be the big story over the next couple of months. Otherwise..it's a great time of the year with lots of sun & warmth. I'm loving it.

Re: Florida Weather
A west wind pattern rainy-season type day today for southeast Florida with storms forming on sea breeze boundaries and moving east back towards the coast. Even had some impressive lightning and thunder at my locale this evening.

Re: Florida Weather
Some much needed rainfall today with afternoon and evening storms again across South Florida - another taste of the summer rainy season in March. This time looks like the models downplayed the rainfall chances (somewhat) with more widespread rainfall across the region than expected. Looks like the front sweeps through later tonight and with it the rain chances will drop to close to zero tomorrow, but the lower dew points and breezy winds will feel nice.

It did feel like summer rain for a few days, which was nice. Didn't get many of those last year outside of tropical systems. Hopefully a sign of weather to come this summer

Re: Florida Weather
I heard on the radio that west and central Florida is in an extreme drought. No rain forecasted for the next 2 weeks. But isn't this our dry season anyway? Not happy about it because it's been so hot. I keep hoping for a change to bring us some precipitation.
Glad to hear that south Florida managed to get some rain. Feel really bad for those parts of the country suffering from the tornado outbreak.

It IS our dry season. Tampa is now about 5 inches below normal for rainfall this year so far and climbing.
Last year we garnered around average rain by this time last year.
So rather unusually dry.

The Miami Force Field literally exists! (And yes, I took a screenshot for that)
