It definitely feels like early summer out there, upper 80s, dewpoints in the lower 70s, afternoon and evening thunderstorms.
Back to a cooler pattern this weekend and parts of next week.

Widespread low in the mid 30s into West-Central Florida with winds chills as low as 25 according to NWS Tampa. Impressive for March :cold:

During the first decade and a half of the early 2000s, I noticed that the coldest wintertime temperatures in South Florida were no longer occurring during the climatological “heart” of winter, as in prior decades, but rather either toward the very beginning or end of winter. Oftentimes some of the most vigorous cold snaps began occurring in March or even early April rather than January or February. One could often go for months with well-above-average wintertime temperatures, only to suddenly experience a brief but surprisingly intense cold snap in March or during the first week of April.

Wow hopefully no damage in Sarasota. Followed a storm in Ft Lauderdale around 6. Little wind and heavy rain. Hearing the thunder and lightning shows whats on the way this spring. Awesome rainbow after :D

So, we're gonna go from 100 degree heat index today, to temps in the upper 50s in a couple mornings. What is going on? Why is there this big massive low just sitting and spinning around the Great Lakes and forcing a front all the way through here, this late in the game?

Had crazy hail storm here in my area on the 4th. Lots of dented cars and some with smashed in back windows.

Many recent “winters” in South Florida have been more summery and “springs” wintery (at least early on). Pole-shift?

Yeah, the weather has been weird. I'm used to these big cold fronts really only coming through in December-February. Occasionally Thanksgiving. But lately, we get a bunch of passages in October-November, and March-April.

The satellite pic today is insane. This low and associated frontal system basically covers the entirety of eastern North America. One of the more broad lows I can remember seeing. And if you believe the GFS, there's actually more to come!

So, NWS Miami says it gets to 57 tonight. I don't know, I think I will eat my hat if that happens, at least in my neighborhood. As impressive as this big honking low draping the entirety of eastern North America is, I think the trajectory of the air mass is skirting too much over the Gulf at the moment rather than driving down the spine of the peninsula. I went for a walk and the air is dry, but not chilly at all. In fact, I found it quite warm.

Last spring featured some late season troughing that yielded lots of low dewpoint air well into May. Let's we get more of that. The extended outlooks offer hope and this pattern has been persistent. What a stunning weekend we had..

Looks like it's going to happen, at least through end of April. Appears NAO- ish with more constant storms riding up the east coast, dragging more fronts through.

SFL spring is always so weird. I'm ready for the wet season honestly.

I think the heat really starts to arrive after the upcoming wet period ends, for S FL. The forecast is highs in the upper 80s to the low 90s for multiple consecutive days, starting around next Monday.

Any thoughts on when cold fronts will stop pushing all the way through Florida?
