Looks like more rain on the way with a persistant shear zone overahead. Interesting to note that here in Austin, we're 8.82 inches above normal rainfall for the year. Also interesting to note that every year the Spurs have won the NBA title, a hurricane has hit Texas!

Thats true Portastorm.

Should this occur this hurricane season I hope it stays away from the Houston-Galveston Areas. Corpus is long overdue for a storm.

Thanks Kelarie! Due to my "day job" and legislative session, I was lucky to get 5 minutes on S2K between late Feb-Memorial Day. It's good to have the time to be amongst my good friends here!!

Yep, the radar around here is lighting up somewhat in the last 2 hrs. Some decent cells moving northwest from the middle TX coast as well.

The trough axis that has been sitting over us since mid-week (or earlier) will remain this weekend, creating a daily chance of heavy rainfall. In fact, NWSFO Austin/San Antonio said this afternoon that the axis should become more north-south aligned and create a possible MCS event later in the weekend, rolling down from the north and really creating some havoc.

The very wet spring-into-summer continues ...

we moved back to houston in 2004 in June...it rained everyday for two weeks straight...seems like june is a wet month here...is it the wettest month on average?

This is amazing ... we have a 77-degree dewpoint at 2 p.m. in the middle of a June summer afternoon. Is this Texas or Florida??!!

It rained much of the morning here in downtown Austin. Grounds remain saturated and creeks/rivers near or at bankfull. Any prolonged period of heavy rain will easily send us into flash flood status.

Funny thing is that the dewpoint in Miami right now is only 68-degrees. It actually is drier there!

We have a very dangerous situation developing here this morning. Rainfall of 4-8 inches fell just north and west of Austin overnight and we have a massive MCS heading our way. Grounds are completely saturated and flash flooding in and near Austin looks like a good bet today!

US 183 near Liberty Hill is closed as the San Gabriel River crested over the road. Numerous reports from Williamson, Burnet, and Llano counties of roads closed and several bridges washed out.

Stay safe over there Portastorm. Very serious flooding overnight.

Well I guess it is time to start building that boat. Looks like we are gonna need it here in Austin today. The system west of here is just incredible. I can't recall ever seeing a system like this at this time of year. Crazy.

But it isn't global warning, right?

Up to 19 inches of rain fell in Marble Falls last night. That's a lot! I wonder if Southeast Texas is going to be next??????

A high dew point is one of the warning sign that there could be heavy rain falling. I remember that with Allison in 2001. I read yesterday that a "core" rain even could happen in Central Texas and it did happen.

Wow I feel for you guys uo there & in the DFW area. I've seen worse in each of the locations seperately, but I can't remember a time when it was so widespead over such a large region. And with this not being over any time soon, this could be one for the history books.

You can say that again. Way back in 1970 parts of Barbados had over 21 inches in just a 6 hour period. It was the most intense rainfall event I have ever experienced.
