THE FOLLOWING MESSAGE IS BEING TRANSMITTED AT THE REQUEST OF
JEFFERSON COUNTY EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT.

A PIPELINE LEAK HAS CREATED A CLOUD OF UNKNOWN GAS NEAR THE
COMMUNITY OF CHEEK.

A SHELTER IN PLACE IS REQUESTED FOR THE RESIDENCES OF CHEEK FROM
AGGIE ROAD TO MEEKER ROAD BETWEEN OLD SOUR LAKE ROAD AND HIGHWAY
90 UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

A SHELTER-IN-PLACE MEANS PROTECTING YOURSELF WHERE YOU ARE AND
STAYING THERE UNTIL GIVEN FURTHER INSTRUCTIONS OR THE ALL-CLEAR.

SHELTER-IN-PLACE WARNING ACTIONS:
1. GO INSIDE
2. CLOSE ALL DOORS AND WINDOWS
3. TURN OFF ALL VENTILATION SYSTEMS
4. TUNE TO LOCAL NEWS MEDIA FOR FURTHER INFORMATION

SHAMBURGER/TRARES

Yeah, that's a few miles west of Beaumont and it made my weather alert go off. It was lifted once they realized it wasn't a hazardous gas.

There was one about a week ago that lasted a lot longer. A few pipelines exploded in Port Arthur and woke up a lot of people at 2am, with houses shaking. It was really loud. There was a shelter-in-place for one area that lasted a while, and it shut down Hwy. 69 near 60th St. Then they opened up most of the lanes, only to have the cold front put out the fire. They needed it to burn off, rather than be released into the air. A spark could have set it off, so they had to shut down the highway completely. Apparently, this made traffic loads of fun everywhere else. They set up a flare to burn out the remaining gas.
Ok, I think I remember all that correctly.
