Why do people enjoy a dry fall in the Southeast?

I don't understand the reasons as to why some people are rooting for clear conditions. It's self-centered. People on these boards say they need precipitation, but then they state, "BRING on Fall!" People complain when they finally receive beneficial precipitation. "My plans are ruined!" Do they realize GA, AL, and the Carolinas have been gripped by this drought? Several areas are situated on the brink of catastrophic water shortages (i.e. NO drinking water). Finally, this SE Florida resident doesn't want to pay the price of drought + SFWMD mismanagement of Lake Okeechobee. Thank you, SFWMD Class of 2006! Great job with the mismanagement via lowering the water level! Can you sympathize with our perspective?
Summary: Why do people want beautiful clear conditions and cheap "cool" shots? WE NEED RAIN ACROSS THE AFOREMENTIONED AREAS.
I'll step off the soapbox. I'm really frustrated. I know you may enjoy cooler conditions, but you should keep reality in mind. Some areas are facing their personal "Katrina" disaster via drought. Look at some communities in Georgia, Alabama, and the Carolinas. It looks silly when people look forward to the prospects of "nice" weather, while others are staring down the barrel of dehydration.
I'm contemplating the creation of fake radar images showing widespread rainfall over the Southeast. You can always dream.
Sigh.

and then there's those who complain about those who complain

I'm with you Miami. We are approx 16 + inches below our normal rainfall here in the Atlanta area. Perfect weather for me now would be about a week of a slow steady rain. I've had enough sun for awhile thank you very much. Here in the SE we root for snow, but I truly would enjoy a cold 33 degree rain. Bring on the precipi, precipi, precipi. . . bring on the rain!

I think you have a personal frustration and you're letting it out (good). No offense intended.

Like I have said many times, Noel would have been a bless for Florida if the system had managed to impact the state. Like Derek said, we need more rain than what Noel can provide, but at least it would have been something.
About fall, I also like fall. I love that morning after a cold front that you go out and the weather is breezy and the temperature is not cold but not warm, just excellent. It's great.

I agree... cooler conditions are great. I just wanted precipitation associated with each s/w trough, thus bringing the best of both spectrums (widespread precipitation and great conditions after the passage).

I like fall because of the cooler temps and suns not as hot, meaning less evaporation, and when it does rain it is usually a good soaker instead of a short downpour.

You have to go through fall to get to the relatively wet winter.

I'd much rather it be cool and dry than hot and dry.
Those 100's in August royally SUCKED.

Well, I wish your location and the entire Southeast would be cool and WET!!! I changed the title to reflect my original opinion and the true intent of this thread. I was referring to dry falls in the Southeast and the reasons as to why some people enjoy them. I do enjoy clear cool conditions (non-drought times), but I do not want marginal lifted indexes and dry conditions during this drought!

The irony is that...
sunny and mild fall/winter in florida = chamber of commerce weather = happy tourists = $$$ in economy.
But I guess you could view this leading to more development with more people sharing finite resources.

And cause more destruction and misery on top of what happened in 2004 and 2005? Sorry but I'd take the drought over my roof being blown off anyday.

I agree - we are really going to be hurting in a few months, barring any winter rain events. I wouldn't bet on any.

We need the rain and when the summer rainy season is not sufficient
tropical systems are nature's way of giving Florida drinking water.
We have to have the water to live.
Now we Don't want major hurricanes but a category 1 or tropical storm that brings
a lot of rain would be a blessing.

Maybe a tropical depression or a weak tropical storm would be a good thing...but keep in mind that wilma brought sustained cat 1 conditions to southeast fla...and was the 3rd costliest hurricane in U.S. history...
...please let's not wish for a cat 1 storm to help the drought...until i experienced cat 1 sustained winds, i had no idea how destructive they could be...
...no doubt the southeast could use rain, but we need to keep things in perspective and be rational..as the saying goes, 'be careful what you wish for...'

Wish for a weak TS merging with another heavy rain system and traveling slowly over Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, and the Carolinas, and then entering the Atlantic and dissipating. Best possible scenario (that I can think of right now), and damage not very significant. Unfortunately, you'd have to wait 'till next year.

Yes but I hope that a trough and cold front stalls out over the southeast
so it brings in gulf moisture and drops rain (you know when those cold
fronts stall and bring training rain over an area).
