Drought drives snakes to the cities

CANBERRA (Reuters Life!) - Australians are facing an increasing snake menace as searing weather bites and the country's worst drought in a generation rolls on.

A 16-year-old boy died in Sydney a week ago after being bitten by an Eastern Brown snake -- one of the world's deadliest -- while in Darwin another brown snake killed a man in his suburban garden.

"As areas are drying up and snakes are having to travel more for water, they are being driven into urban areas," Australian Reptile Park General Manager Mary Rayner told Reuters on Monday.

Hopefully some late showers can alleviate the drought.

Yeah that was freaky, poor kid! its pretty scary to have a snake get up in the strike mode at you! but to have it bite you would be way bad! specially if you can't seek help right away!

Wow. If I lived down there I'd have locked myself in a panic room when this started. I'd seriously to be too afraid to go outside or even put my feet on the floor.

Only Snakes? Here we've been all sorts of wildlife down in town foraging for food because of the Drought. Including but not limited to Bears, mountain lions and Javelinas. Our killer bees also get testier than usual during the dry periods.
