This is interesting:

A strong argument for global cooling...

...I would like to see other people comment on this...
I am not sure what to think now...LOL
That argument is strong, but so are global warming arguments...This leaves me
very confused... :?: :?: :?: :?:

Looks to me like a mish-mash of all the arguments we've discussed here for years. But if you want to pick one at a time to discuss, that'd be fine.

That man says the ozone layer hole wasn't caused by cfc's. That it was natural. So, I'd consider his information very carefully.

Just a note that Montana and the west are having an unseasonable warm spell right now. Similar to the large trough swings of amplitude.

Global Cooling

The temperature trend at North 0, West 180 1013.3mb is where I look for ground truth or more precisely water truth. There is not to much going on out there besides weather. It is simple not to much data to interpolate just a thermometer. The late year 2006 peak is about a tenth of a degree cooler than the late year 1994 peak. The early 2008 dip was about five hundredths of a degree cooler than the 1999 dip. The difference is the interval between the 2006 peak and dip is about 2 years shorter than the 1994 peak dip. There is a notable warm period between 2001 and 2005. The rebound from the 2008 dip wasn’t very long or strong falling off midyear to a point two tenths of a degree weaker than the rebound after the 1998 rebound.

I would say that the earth is in a cooling trend since the real time graph in a industrial/season neutral place is falling off to the right. This is what one would call global cooling. I expect that since there was a dip two years after the 1994 peak there is reason to anticipate a continued falling off trend until 2010.

From -60 to +50
Crazy!!! Extreme weather means extreme jet stream energy

Rollercoaster!!!!!

Los Angeles just set a record for consecutive highs in the 80's for January.

Amplitude.

Amplitude is very extreme...from the coldest highs in years to
temperatures in the mid 70s by the weekend in Florida...

The jet stream bends and buckles all the time. If there is a ridge in the west then there must be a trough in the east. This is nothing new. Do you really think that in the history of Earth, before humans invented the thermometer this has not happened before? Ask the residents of Florida tonight on their thoughts on GW?.....MGC

You can't say ask Florida residents and not say ask Los Angeles residents. It's only fair. The LA record was for unprecedented warmth. Cool spells in Florida are not unprecedented.

I believe amplitude means bigger, stronger bends in the jet stream as this would suggest.

I'm sure Florida has had wild swings in the past...I just think the temperature contrast is interesting though
across the nation...

That is not very unusual in Florida. Even back in the winters of the 70s and 80s Florida would still have plenty of 70-75F+ days mixed in with the bouts of very cold weather. You need to remember that it is Florida after all, and having cold sustain itself for a long period of time (more than a week) is something that is pretty rare to see.

True...Florida is in the normal range with respect to winter patterns- now if we were to see record heat I would be more concerned...I still
am somewhat concerned by the variations exhibited by northern cities: Fairbanks alaska
from -60 to +52 record high...that is an insane temperature record in a short period
Record cold to record warmth....I don't know if it is the PDO or some other climate
cycle or global warming but it is stunning...
