Heat wave rocks Henan Province

Heat wave rocks the central China's Henan Province according to the recent meteorological record. On the 21st of June at 0755 UTC (1555 BJT), the temperature of the provincial capital Zhengzhou City reached 40.1 centigrade. Anyang and Jiyuan also recorded temperature higher than 40 degrees. Hebi and Xinxiang received heat more than 39 degrees. The high temperature condition has lasted for days, during the 16th and 22nd of June, 10 cars get itself burned in Zhengzhou City.

The heat wave is forecast to persist until the day 26 when a thunderstorm is expected.

Heat wave continues and expands, 4 dead

The greatest heat wave of China in the year of 2009 is now rocking China's provinces and municipalities of Beijing, Hebei, Shanxi, Shandong and Henan. Three cities break the historical record of the 3rd decade of June.

12 provincial capitals are listed as their temperature reached the value greater than 35 degrees, record were broken in Beijing (39.6 Celsius, breaking the record of 06/28/1972..39.2 Celsius, in the first day of the High School Entrance Exam), Shijiazhuang (42.1 Celsius) as well as Zhengzhou (41.9 Celsius).

4 dead in Zhengzhou City of Henan Province due to heat wave. In Shandong Province, 70 county-level meteorological station recorded a temperature greater than 37 degrees (58% of all), 46 of them greater than 38 degrees, the highest temperature in the province is recorded in the county of Dongming, Heze City (40.4 Celsius)

In Shanxi Province, 5 counties recorded a temperature higher than 40 degrees. On the afternoon of the day 24, Henan's Anyang City reached 43 degrees centigrade.

The heat wave is expected to persist for the next 48 hours.

Thunder strike kills 3 in Guizhou

On 25th of June 3 persons were killed in Guizhou province's Hezhang Autonomous County ang other 2 injured.

Additionally, on the day 27, active thunderstorm conditions affected northeastern part of China, the southern part of Heilongjiang recorded 5,512 strikes in just 10 hours.

Henan: Heat wave diminished by strong thunderstorms

On the night of the day 27 of June (local time), heavy thunderstorms affected the province's capital city of Zhengzhou, with the rainfall record of 41.5mm in two hours. On 8 pm local time, some other meteorological stations also recorded some extreme high short-time rainfall from 50mm to 70.5mm in one hour.

Meanwhile, on 28th of June, four stations experienced record-breaking 24-hour rainfall of the month of June, they are:
Bei'an, Heilongjiang: 68.3mm (rec: 66.6mm in 1966)
Tieli, Heilongjiang: 52.8mm (rec: 50.7mm in 1986)
Ziyang, Sichuan: 130.8mm (rec: 125.2mm in 1962)
Leshan, Sichuan: 214.2mm (rec: 168.4mm in 1987)

Jiangxi Province under Heavy Rain Red Alert, 8 dead in Yunnan

On 30th of June, The most severe rainstorm started in Jiangxi Province, which, for the first time in history, activated the Heavy Rain Red Alert. From 1 to 3 of July, the province's average rainfall amount reached 97.4mm, 41 cities and counties reached the amount greater than 100mm, Dayu county received 219mm of rain. 525 villages and townships reached an amount greater than 100mm, among which Niedu Village of Chongyi County received a 525mm of rain among which 355.7mm fell in 6 hours. 2 dead and 3 missing were confirmed in this province, with 8,231 houses destroyed.

In Dayu County, an average 2-meter water accumulated on the ground, the maximum depth reached 4 meters. The rain in that province is expected to weaken, but some thunderstorms and torrential rains are still possible.

Meanwhile, in the northeastern part of Yunnan Province, rainstorm occurred accompanied by strong wind and hails. 8 deaths were confirmed and more than 1,000 houses destroyed.
