Double funnel cloud or tornado cloud-to-cloud?

#1 Postby Pedro Fernández » Fri May 14, 2010 1:22 pm

What do you think about this rare tornado?

It was filmed yesterday evening in Sallent (Bages, Barcelona, Spain).

We know a similar case filmed in Nebraska.

They are sometimes referred to as a bowtie funnel-they are not very common but we did videotape one that evolved from a regular funnel into a bowtie here in AZ. They tend to be non supercell associated.

Very interesting! Thank you very much. We don't know this rare type of funnels, although I had seen the one of Nebraska, years ago...

Ok, I have found some papers referred to those "bowtie funnels". For example: http://journals.ametsoc.org/doi/full/10.1175/MWR3080.1

Thank you very much again.
