Our reader tipped us that the two ships ran aground on the north side of Marjan . As you can see in the video , the two ship wrecked off with water first . These are ships Krka and Orebic . The third ship ran aground supposedly a short-term lot to the west , and it is a board Vranjic . However , later he managed to sail to the island of Ciovo .

Split harbourmaster, Davor Vidan, confirmed that the two ships stranded on the north side of Marjan, not far from the first water, and that another ship floating time Ciovo.

- The ships were sunk about 15 hours. Currently we can not do much, we have to wait for the time to be quiet. On the ships there were no crew members. In fact, were berthed in port at St. Kaji, and most likely is due to the strong wind broke the rope and ships were untied and floated to the first water - said Vidan.

The Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure reported that the National Centre for Coordinating Search and Rescue in Rijeka five minutes from 15 hours received a tip that snapped the ropes on cargo ships waiting scrap yard. In addition to waterfalls and Orebic, who were stranded on the north side of Marjan, cracked the rope and on board Vranjic. He is after stranding, in 16.40 hours due barrel grounding and storm took it to Ciovo.

- When uncontrolled sailing ships carried bora hit a breakwater naval port "Lora" and soon beached. Owner ship "Split sailing" immediately hired vessels "Brodospas". At position are sent two tugboats and the grounding position was sent to the ship and the Port Authority of Split, but access to the stranded ships was not possible - said David Radas from the Ministry of Maritime Affairs, Transport and Infrastructure.

German meteorologist who recorded a dramatic video : Bura is among the strongest winds of the world !

Unusually great attention to the current bora given by this time and the media in Europe , especially Germany . Several groups from Germany sent their reporters or chaser in Croatia , to be on the spot convinced of the power of our natural phenomenon . WetterOnline regularly reported to his readers in the field of the Velebit coastline , the reporter was only the second day it blows managed to stand near the bridge of Maslenica.

In Croatia, spent two days and Marco Kaschuba , German meteorologist and an avid hunter of weather extremes . Marco has its own Facebook page , where you can follow his ventures . After returning to Germany , on his YouTube channel has published a compilation of the most interesting personnel incurred while recording wind , when the strike officially exceeded 220 km / h .

Another video of German chaser , by Maximilian Pank :

Bora (katabatic storm), Croatia March 5 2015
Epic - a word that I usually try to avoid - does not describe the experience of being in the middle of an extreme Bora storm with maximum wind speeds way beyound 200 kph. Nature just leaves you feeling humbled by showing its raw brutality and yourself being completely powerless.
One note about safety: Although we took almost every precaution possible and moved only to safe places some situations were more than scary and potentially life-threatening.
This is not fun, it's very serious and not suitable for imitation! Do not try this at all, unless you know the risks and are willing to take them!
