Sunspot 756

#1 Postby senorpepr » Sat Apr 30, 2005 12:24 am

Looks like we have another large sunspot kicking up energy our direction.

Sunspot 756, roughly about three times the size of Earth, has continued to grow over the past few days. The first image is a loop of sunspot 756 growing. Toward the end of the loop you can also see sunspot 757 develop. The second image is the latest look at the sunspots in relation to the sun.

Also, check out http://sec.noaa.gov/rt_plots/xray_1m.html for the latest solor X-ray output. Over the past few days sunspot 756 has shot off a couple of C-class flares with a majority of the activity in the B-class range. The possibility of M-class flares are not out of the question...

A new flare kicked off a while ago, peaking at 01/1638Z of a magnitude of C1.9.
