Western Atlantic Tropical Summary - WATS UP on August 20, 2005

<img src="http://www.diamondheadweather.com/wats20050820.jpg">

The SAL is the dominant feature in the central Atlantic today. A tropical
wave moving through the Antilles is the leading edge of this latest push
of Saharan dust, which is why that wave will not develop.

The remnants of TD10 are there, and I do not expect redevelopment
of this system. If will likely move toward South Florida in the next few days.

A large ridge over the southeast US is drying out and heating things up.
It will be hot over most of the southern US today.

I do not expect tropical cyclone development in the next 48-72 hours
in this area.
