MIAMI -- A man who was bitten by an extremely poisonous snake while preparing for Hurricane Katrina is being treated at Jackson South Hospital.

The man was removing debris from his yard in Southwest Miami-Dade County Thursday afternoon when he was bitten on the leg by a green mamba. Fire rescue workers rushed the man to the hospital.

The Miami-Dade Fire-Rescue Anti-Venin unit is at JSH treating the man.

At 6 p.m., the man was listed in critical condition.

Wow, thats an African snake native to tropical african areas. Must have been someones pet. Its solid green and around here I would think it was a harmless snake.
