No it isn't. Someone correct me if I'm wrong here, but don't most 'canes have a peak intensity that they can reach? I know that they can't sustain high Cat. 5 intensity for a long time. Is there a chance that she can reach her peak early then start dying out as she nears TX? Might be wishful thinking for y'all over there, but worth a shot :wink:

wow...only a couple hours of strengthening needed for cat 5....looks like it will happen.

yes, both computer model and official forecasts call for weakening after a peak in 12-24 hours due to lower oceanic heat as she moves west.

According to this link, Andrew's pressure was 922.
