Hurricane Hunter will be in Puerto Rico on March 17

The plane will land in Mayaguez a west coast city here and as every year the plane has arrived here a bunch of people will make long lines to see it.Last year in San Juan over 10,000 people saw the plane.Max Mayfield will be amomg the visitors that day and will have a conference.Also Lixon Avila will come.I will let all know about what he will say in the conference but I suspect that it will be the same as he has spoken in different places in recent weeks.

...HURRICANE HUNTER AIRCRAFT WILL VISIT MAYAGUEZ PUERTO RICO...

THE HURRICANE HUNTER AIRCRAFT WC-13OJ FROM THE U.S. AIR FORCE RESERVE
SQUADRON 57...WILL BE AVAILABLE FOR PUBLIC VIEWING AT THE EUGENIO
MARIA DE HOSTOS AIRPORT IN MAYAGUEZ THIS COMING FRIDAY MARCH 17 FROM
12 NOON UNTIL 5 PM.

HURRICANE SPECIALISTS FROM THE TROPICAL PREDICTION CENTER IN MIAMI
AND PUBLIC EMERGENCY OFFICIALS STARTED YESTERDAY ON A 5 DAY 6
CITIES TRIP THROUGH THE CARIBBEAN REGION TO INSTILL PUBLIC
AWARENESS OF THE THREAT POSED BY HURRICANES TO THE CARIBBEAN AND THE
ATLANTIC.

THIS GROUP WILL VISIT MEXICO, NICARAGUA, CURACAO, GRENADA AND WILL
END THE TOUR IN MAYAGUEZ...PUERTO RICO. THIS SPECIALIZED TEAM FROM
THE NATIONAL HURRICANE CENTER WILL BE TRAVELLING ABOARD A HERCULES
WC-130-J HURRICANE HUNTER AIRPLANE. THE HURRICANE HUNTERS FROM THE
WEATHER RECONNAISSANCE SQUADRON 53 ARE DESIGNED TO GATHER POSITION
AND INTENSITY DATA BY FLYING DIRECTLY OVER THE STORM AND TRANSMITTING
THIS IMPORTANT INFORMATION FROM THE EYE OF THE HURRICANE TO THE
METEOROLOGISTS.

THE HURRICANE SPECIALISTS WILL WORK WITH LOCAL OFFICIALS AND THE
MEDIA TO RAISE AWARENESS TO THE THREAT POSED BY HURRICANES TO THE
REGION. THE TEAM WILL DISCUSS LESSONS LEARNED FROM THE 2005 HURRICANE
SEASON IN THE ATLANTIC WITH EMERGENCY OFFICIALS AND
ADMINISTRATORS...METEOROLOGIST AND WITH THE PUBLIC.
