Residence Inns will take 3 dogs ... they don't care about the size of dogs. But you sound as though you are ready to go in any case!photoguy wrote:We are on a canal literally 100 yards off of Tampa Bay. There is a high tide (healthy high) shown for around the predicted landfall. We have three large dogs so hotels/shelters are out for us. But when we moved here we bought a HEV (hurricane escape vehicle). It's fueled up and ready to go. Food, water and a generator.
But at this point (Sunday afternoon), we're obviously holding off - there are a lot of variables in play - primarily a big chunk of Cuba. But since we'll be in a small RV, if we do leave, it will have to be early.
I'm holding out hope for that force field...
Sarasota, Tampa area..... Are you getting jittery??

Well have to see if it continues but my bet would be with it will. If this does come onshore anywhere near tampa im sure it wont bring much to us here. (Some wishful -removed- there)
Yes, Tampa Bay has a very powerful deflector shield. I've seen it work with Charley. It is usually at its highest setting when a hurricane is 12-24 hours away. But I'll watch that episode on Surviving Urban Disasters tonight at 8PM EST on the Science channel just in case...

I think we're gonna find that the best course of action is to wax up your board and head to Hatteras. By all means keep an eye on it, but my money is that it clips east Cuba, gets hold of the Gulf Stream and goes north like a rat race.
Maybe a hit on Broward and a buzz saw up to Melbourne Beach.
