1979 Super Typhoon Tip

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Typhoon_Tip

1,380 miles wide
870 mb

-------

Is that even possible in the Atlantic, or only in the Westpac where conditions seem to favor more category 5's over there?

I love the comparison of Tip and Tracey. Tracey is the size of a couple of counties in your state, while Tip could take up the entire western half of the US. Both were cat 5's, Tracey making landfall on Christmas day. Weird.
